IT STARTED WITH A DREAM…

When Craig Donaldson immigrated from New Zealand in 2006, he had plans.  An expert metal fabricator, immediately upon arrival he went to work in Eugene as a millwright for Lane Forest Products, but Craig’s dream was always to own his own business.  In 2009, he took the leap, starting KiwiFab Inc. in a workshop he constructed at his house.  Soon enough, KiwiFab outgrew it’s original home and relocated to a larger facility in Eugene.

YOU GOTTA HAVE THE RIGHT VISON, AND THE RIGHT PARTNER!

Part of Craig’s vision all along was to bring steel privacy fencing from Down Under, where it is wildly popular, to Oregon and beyond.  After building KiwiFab, Craig joined with KD Rogers, Kiwi’s financial consultant, when they created DuraBond Modern Steel Fencing.

As President and majority partner of DuraBond, Craig provides leadership in all facets of the company and is directly involved with import negotiations – all this while he continues to run KiwiFab.  As Vice-President, KD’s focus is on sales, customer service, marketing, communication, financial management, warehousing and distribution. Currently KD juggles her duties at DuraBond with managing her investment properties.

STEEL FENCING IN A WOOD CRAZY OREGON?

After just a year, these dynamic partners have established productive alliances with contractors who have installed DuraBond’s fencing from Portland to the California border along the I-5 corridor and beyond.  The demand for DuraBond fencing has dictated that the company expand into its own facility after sharing space with KiwiFab – impressive really given that Oregonians have traditionally preferred wood for fences!  The increased demand has enabled the company to invest in a warehouse dedicated to its fencing after “borrowing” space in the KiwiFab facility for the first few months in operation.

DURABOND IS SELLING STEEL PRIVACY FENCING BECAUSE IT'S A GREAT PRODUCT

“It’s no surprise we have been able to create a market here in the States,” Craig says.  “It’s super popular in Australia and New Zealand for the same reasons it is becoming popular here – it’s stylish, it’s strong, and it is basically maintenance free.”

DuraBond Fencing products are guaranteed for 10 years, and an occasional spraying off with a hose is all that is required for maintenance.  As Craig likes to say: “Get away from wood, get away from maintenance!”
