1. Choose the wrong materials
What is the purpose of your fence? Keep animals safe? Make your property more secure? More private? The purpose of your fence essentially dictates your choice for materials. If it’s keeping animals safe, then wood, cyclone, wrought iron, or steel privacy fencing can work. But consider other purposes: Do you want increased privacy? Scratch out wrought iron and cyclone fencing. Also, even wood becomes less private as it shrinks, cracks and warps. Do you want increase security? Then you want a less scalable fence. Cyclone offers hand and footholds all the way up, so we do not recommend that. We do recommend DuraBond’s fencing – the rails are at the very bottom, and very top, with only coated steel in between – a difficult climb!
2. Choose the wrong contractor or DIY when you should not
A good fencing contractor, one with a proven record, is the best choice. Practically anyone can put up a fence, but it takes a considerable set of skills to build a fence that is plumb, square, and built to last. Contractors live on their reputations, and good ones do not leave a job until the customer is happy.
3. Choose inferior materials
You get what you pay for. Why pay for a cheaper version of a fence that costs less in the short term, but ultimately is much more expensive in the long term? We strongly recommend you not be attracted to a less expensive option – choosing inferior products for your fence is a mistake. Cheap materials make cheap fences. Cheap fences require more maintenance. Maintenance costs time and money. Over time, cheap fences are more expensive. Cheap fences are NOT cheap – they are expensive fences masquerading as a good deal – but there is no real VALUE in them. Wood, vinyl, and wrought iron have been the main types of fencing for residential homeowners. Now, there is a new fence in town: DuraBond Steel Privacy Fencing. Developed in Australia, experts Down Under agree there is no mistake in choosing steel privacy fence. It lasts, (10 year warranty and it last even longer) it’s strong, stylish and secure.
With DuraBond’s fencing, you get only quality –– with DuraBond, you get the real thing, every time.
4. Commit a budget blunder
The cost of fencing is often underestimated by homeowners – and when they are hit with estimates from professional fencing contractors, their sticker shock sends them reeling. Then they make the mistake many homeowners make, they go the “less expensive” option and purchase cheap materials. It does not take long for a fence made of poor materials begins to look ratty, especially one constructed by an amateur.
